This page is devoted to my musing, ramblings, etc. I don't think it's a real blog, but it might be bloggish.
This week I was dragged kicking and screaming into the 21st century by two young friends, Ryan and Tara. They informed me that quite a bit of my inventory would go over really well with the BioShock video gamers. I've never even played a video game. I've never played Wii for cryin' out loud! Anywho, Ryan sent me some links and I checked it out. I still don't get it, but looks like the 'cosplay' is fun! So, I'm going to try marketing some of my wares to the BioShock crowd.
On another note, I get some of the most interesting people in my shop! A few of my favorites over the past year and a half:
I'll be posting more about interesting customers!
Mrs. Johnson and her husband, Thaine, owned and operated Olde Brandywine Antiques on Old 8 in Northfield for many years. Mr. Johnson passed away several years ago and I just found out that Mrs. Johnson passed away in December after an accident. I was lucky enough to be a customer of theirs for about the past 20 years. Among other treasures, I bought my first 'major' piece of Fiestaware from them (a large, yellow pitcher) as well as a great WWII Chessie print. (My cat, Chessie, died in Feb. 2010 at age 16.) They were both always so pleasant and KNOWLEDGABLE! With Mrs. Johnson's passing, the store is closing for good this weekend.
Deepest sympathy to her family.

The shop has a new name! Falls Antiques & Collectibles is now SUBURBAN RETRO. After kicking around literally dozens of names and ideas, I finally decided on one and went with it. For me, it says it all. The majority of my inventory, and what I love myself, is what you might have seen on a visit to a home in the 'burbs in the 1930's, '40's, or '50's from kitsch to classic. There are also treasures from other decades that sneak in every once in a while. It is a scary and exciting step for me, but one that was due.

The Irish Festival was June 10-12. What a turn out! Had a ton of great customers in over the weekend. Thanks to everyone who stopped by. What a fun bunch of people!!!

Just a note to thank all of the customers who have been finding me on-line! I really appreciate hearing from and meeting you. Keep those cards and letters coming!!!
This is a business I started in January, 2011.
