This week I was dragged kicking and screaming into the 21st century by two young friends, Ryan and Tara. They informed me that quite a bit of my inventory would go over really well with the BioShock video gamers. I've never even played a video game. I've never played Wii for cryin' out loud! Anywho, Ryan sent me some links and I checked it out. I still don't get it, but looks like the 'cosplay' is fun! So, I'm going to try marketing some of my wares to the BioShock crowd.
On another note, I get some of the most interesting people in my shop! A few of my favorites over the past year and a half:
Calvin, the little boy, maybe 8 or 9, who came in with his father and was captivated by a portable typewriter. He said it was like they had on MASH - a typewriter like Radar uses! Turns out he's a huge fan of MASH!
Of all the things in the shop, one of the items that get the most comments are the old metal roller skates that you strap onto your shoes and adjust with a skate key. A man from Philly said he remembered the metal wheels making sparks as he skated on the sidewalk. A woman said she broke her arm when her sisters were pulling her while she was wearing the skates and she fell.
A member of Sisters On The Fly, a group of women with (vintage) campers who meet all over the U.S. Sounds like they are a fun bunch!
